Checking In for another week

No loss this week. Stayed steady at 238. I hiked and did my regular exercises but ate badly for a couple of days. I am back on track now though. I got some motivational cd’s from Ediets and they are helping a lot. See you next week with more progress. How is your plan going?

Hiking for health and style!

Bruce and I got up yesterday and decided to go for a hike. We have all the goodies, packs, cooking gear, safety stuff, water bladders, tent, sleeping bags and more, so we were ready for almost any terrain. There is a wetland area near home so we thought that sounded like a plan. We repacked our gear because we didn’t need everything. It was just going to be a day hike with some fishing time thrown in.

We decided on a route, got Ellen ready to go and set off. We decided to ad our fold up lightweight chairs to Bruce’s pack so we’d be more comfortable fishing. We hiked for about 5 and 1/2 miles when we spotted a nice area to stop and have lunch. I had brought some noodles and crackers. Coffee too. We stopped, pulled out the chairs, set up the Sterno stove, had coffee while the noodles cooked and took some pictures. As we were sitting there I looked around and busted out laughing. As I explained to Bruce what I thought we looked like, sitting out in the boonies in our chairs, off he went laughing also. About half an hour later some ladies that worked for Fish and Game came along and we chatted for quite a while about land use in the area. They took our pictures to use in a brochure. Maybe we’ll be famous! lol

It was getting on past noon so we decided to pack up and head for the fishing hole. We sat and fished for about 2 hours then headed home. My hip started hurting really bad so Bruce walked on ahead to get the car. Turned out I had raised my  pack up about 5 miles back and it just wasn’t sitting on me right. When I fixed it the pain lessened. It was still nice to get a ride for the last mile. All total we hiked 8 miles and had a wonderful day.

Exercise

Bruce and I walked 3 and 1/2 miles tonight! We started early because it gets dark by 6 now. We walk around a farmers crop circle right across the road from us. I like to walk there because I don’t have to put Ellen’s leash on her. I got a Pedometer last night do I could accurately measure how far I walk each day. When we were in town yesterday we ate dinner at a Chinese restaurant. I thought for sure I’d gained some weight because I ate way too much food. I had to check on the scale this morning instead of waiting for my weekly weigh in. I was pleasantly surprised. I had lost another 2 lbs.

Lost three pounds!!

Yup first weigh in after starting and I have lost 3 lbs!! I am liking this. Last night Bruce had to work OT so I took Ellen for a walk. We went 4 miles!

My Future

Yesterday was the first day of my getting healthy campaign. Over the years I have eaten all the junk fast food just like everyone else. Using my busy life as an excuse I have gotten severely over weight. 100 pounds to be exact.
In January of this year I quit smoking after many years. That is another excuse I have for the weight packing on. I started to research a healthy lifestyle, not a diet. I got on the web to find the facts about food and exercise. I found a lot of information. As a matter of fact it was information overload. I also got an appointment with my doctor and got her advice.
I settled on Ediets for the food and exercise help I need. The Mediterranean diet is the one I choose to go with. I love my pasta and bread. Hubby is on board also. He was taking high blood pressure medication but is off it now. We took him off salt and prepackaged food which has tons of salt. He is going into the Army so has to be in shape for the over 40 physical. It is not quite as intense as the regular one but still tough. We did start eating better months ago, fresh fruit and veggies but didn’t know enough to go it alone. This is day 2 and so far so good. My biggest problem is getting through the evenings. That is when I seem to want to snack. I am an admitted soda and chip-a-holic.
I do love to hike and geocache so that will be integrated into my exercise routine. I have also learned to keep a journal. It is a must so you can really honestly keep track of your food intake. I went out last night and got a weight scale. Right now I am at 245 lbs. I’d say it was way past time to loose the weight. These pictures are the before. I will keep updating here.
